- You should have started to choose poems for Bennington.
- Workshop the poems/help each other choose
- Ask me for help, etc., etc.
I like this one much betterrrrr
ReplyDeleteOur proposal is to connect the game Final Fantasy X to poetry. We will use themes present in the game, as well as characters and repetitive motifs/phrases/symbols that appear in the game. These things we will use in poetry, therefore connecting our favorite game, Final Fantasy X to poetry! Research we found was minimal - just really bad fan-fiction poetry.

Poetry and Dreams
ReplyDeleteWe’re going to explore the link between poetry and dreams, the imagination of the unconscious. To look for the poetics of what happens when we fall asleep, when we let our minds free into a wild unknown. How waking and living states relate to one another, how reality intertwines with fiction, and how our habits and behaviors affect what we dream. We look to explore both the science of dreams and sleeping, as well as the auras that surround them. Poems themselves are often imagistic, shrouded in meaning and enigma—the same can be said of dreams, as well. What do our dreams mean to us and the world around us, and how does that relate to poetry?

I will be working on the link between poetry and the three different sports I play: soccer, cheerleading, and softball. It is the only thing that takes up so much time in my life besides schoolwork and I obviously know a lot about it, so why not? There is a lot of imagery, and terms such as foundations, heal stretch, and line drives can be incorporated into a poem that I don’t think many people would think of. I’m going to try and make it a cycle, or whatever works best. I’ve never used sports as a theme in any of my writing, so I feel that would be a good challenge. A lot of people might think it’s a boring topic, so hopefully I can change that.

ReplyDeleteTopic: Poetry and Alcohol
Poetry is like alcohol for the following reasons:
A hard liquor is similar to an intense poem – one with a lot of emotion (more so a negative emotion, i.e. anger.)
Alcohol such as wine, champagne, etc. is similar to a more flowing poem – one with softer imagery.

ReplyDeleteI am going to be making a connection between poetry and journalism. I love the idea of journalism, and I think that a connection between the two can definitely be made. I think that in journalism, you have to use certain words and phrases to make your piece of writing, and at times there has to be a strong sense of opinion, but also, sometimes, you must be objective. I am very excited to see where this leads me.
Kaisean and Donyel decided to focus their poetry project on Plays, including famous figures such as William Shakesphere and anyone else we feel is important. We'lll try to focus on the different elements such as the repeating of phrases and scenes, foreshadowing in some aspects and many other important stuff. So Uh...yeah...YMCMB.

ReplyDeleteI am going to connect poetry to war. In particular, I am going to explore the many different psychological aspects of what war does to veterans. My research consisted of figuring out which war in the history of the United States was the most psychologically taxing, and I decided that it would likely be Vietnam. Allthough, most psychological issues that veterans have can be tied to all wars, not just one. But for the sake of ungeneralizing my poem, I will focus on the Vietnam war and how it left most of its veterans either depressed, crazy, or dead.
I will be working on the link between poetry and track&field. It should be interesting to see how I will incorporate two things that I feel so differently about. Using poetry to write about something that I spend so much time doing, something that I have been doing basically my whole life might be challenge because it is poetry but I'm excited to see where I will go with this project.
ReplyDeleteErin and Ashley are going to connect poetry to a holiday celebration of every month of the year. We are going to incorporate food into our poems. Our actual porject is going to be a calendar.
ReplyDeleteI guess I'll do poetry and nature. That's cool, right? Swag.
