First Period
The deadline for Scholastic Art and Writing is fast approaching! Our region's deadline is January 4th. With the winter break coming fast, we do not have many school days to get this together. There are 27 categories, and the creative writing department will pay the entry fee for those interested in entering this contest. Aren't you excited? I sure am!

 

Please spend 1st period looking over the contest guidelines and deciding if and what you plan to submit. You can also register online today. Did you know there is a Senior Portfolio category? It's true!

Poetry form time!

 

Is there a form you hate? One you just don't quite get? Guess what I am going to let you do?

 

Collaborate with a peer! Struggle with it together! Look up examples together! Write together! Have fun together!
(Please make sure you both keep a copy in your portfolios.)

 

By the end of class you should have:

 

• Looked over the Scholastic Art and Writing contest guidelines
• 6/8 Forms (1st drafts/one can be co-written)
• 2 Polished poems from the 6 drafts/attempts
